Designing an Intuitive Interface for a Family Archiving and Genealogy Platform

About the project

Tentackles undertook an ethnographic research initiative to enrich and refine Archoral’s complex media archiving features. Archoral, renowned for its personal and family archiving services, houses sophisticated media indexing capabilities, necessitating a streamlined and user-centric approach.

Why the client required the service?

The platform’s media archiving process involved multifaceted steps for media storage and metadata entry. The need for ethnographic research was apparent to simplify these intricate tasks by examining and understanding how various users interacted and collaborated within the archiving procedures.

What we did?

Conducting in-depth interviews with genealogy experts provided profound insights into the complexities of media indexing and user collaborations. By closely observing the archiving process, Tentackles identified hurdles and inefficiencies, serving as the foundation for subsequent design improvements.

How it helped the project?

Ethnographic research delivered a comprehensive analysis of the archiving process, highlighting areas poised for technological enhancement. Key insights emphasized the paramount importance of privacy, effective collaboration on media, and accentuated the need for user-centric improvements to streamline and elevate the archiving experience.
