Simplifying the Complex World of Data Monetization

Tentackles partnered with DataGets to create a compelling explainer video that showcased their innovative approach to data control and monetization. Through careful scripting, storyboarding, and animation, we developed a visually engaging narrative that breaks down the complexities of data management. The video highlights how DataGets empowers individuals and businesses by providing a secure platform for controlling and monetizing personal data, making complex concepts accessible and inspiring action.

Exploration & Research

Before jumping into the production process, we conducted a deep dive into the world of data privacy, user data monetization, and the role DataGets plays in reshaping the market. The research phase was essential to:

  • Understand the Problem: Tech giants like Google, Facebook, and various data brokers collect vast amounts of data from users for free, generating billions of dollars in revenue. Users, however, remain unaware of the extent of this data collection and receive no direct compensation.
  • Understand the Solution: DataGets offers a solution by giving users control over which data they share, allowing them to monetize it. This brings fairness and transparency to the current exploitative data ecosystem.

Scripting

The script needed to be clear, concise, and impactful to resonate with the audience. We focused on a message that highlighted the problem (loss of control over personal data) and introduced DataGets as a revolutionary solution.

  • Introduction to the Problem: An engaging opening that addresses the increasing time spent online and the digital trail users leave behind.
  • Highlight the Exploitative Practices: We illustrated how tech giants and hidden data brokers profit from user data without compensation.
  • Introduction to DataGets: Present DataGets as the solution—giving users control and the ability to earn from their data.
  • Process Explanation: Explain how DataGets works: selecting data to share, earning money, and the role of verified companies.
  • Security & Transparency: Emphasize the security protocols (AWS, blockchain verification) to build trust.
  • Call to Action: End with a call for users to join DataGets, participate in the data revolution, and make a difference.

Storyboarding

With the script in place, we moved to storyboarding, where we translated the narrative into visual scenes. Our approach aimed to simplify complex ideas through intuitive and dynamic visuals.
Storyboard Highlights:

  • Visual of a person interacting with multiple devices (smartphone, tablet, and PC), leaving a visible digital trail.
  • Representation of tech giants (Google, Facebook) profiting from the user’s digital data without compensation.
  • Introduction of DataGets—a glowing logo over a secure digital environment—symbolizing a new way of data control.
  • User selecting data they wish to share on the DataGets app and receiving money in return.
  • Illustrating blockchain transparency with a futuristic, secure data transaction screen.
  • A closing call-to-action where a group of people joins the platform, showcasing the collective power of data ownership.

Animation

Once the storyboard was approved, we moved into the animation phase, focusing on creating engaging visuals that clearly conveyed the complex topic of data monetization. We used clean and approachable 2D animation with vibrant characters and smooth motion graphics to illustrate data sharing and monetization. The cool blue and green color palette signified trust and innovation, while key animations like a digital trail of user activity, money flow towards users via DataGets, and blockchain representations brought the concepts to life.

To enhance the experience, we added a professional voice-over with a clear, authoritative tone that explained the visuals and simplified the topic for the audience. This helped maintain engagement and ensure seamless synchronization between the audio and animation.

Conclusion

The final video succeeded in simplifying the complex topic of data monetization and demonstrating how DataGets stands apart by empowering users. It emphasized transparency, security, and the ethical approach to data monetization. The call to action was powerful and encouraged viewers to take charge of their data, ensuring that the video not only educated but also inspired action.
